Taipei · A City’s Color
Taipei’s colors are the silver gray of Taipei 101 and the red walls of the National Palace Museum. Night markets are Taipei’s soul—Shilin Night Market, Ningxia Night Market, Raohe Night Market, each one a food paradise.
Signature Snacks
Beef Noodle Soup
Taipei locals will queue for half an hour for a bowl of beef noodles. Braised beef is tender and deeply flavored, beef bone broth is rich and aromatic, noodles are chewy. Lin Dong Fang and Yongkang Beef Noodles are the two peaks of Taipei beef noodles.
Braised Pork Rice (Lu Rou Fan)
Diced pork belly slow-braised with shallots, soy sauce, and rock sugar until it melts in your mouth. Poured over white rice, stirred so every grain is coated in the braising sauce. A bowl of lu rou fan, a plate of blanched greens, a bowl of gongwan soup—Taiwanese comfort food.
